However, the Xi'an High Speed Railway Station has been made by the Beijing-based Oriental Pearl Industrial Group as a brand new train station in China. The station is situated in an area of the Xi'an City and is named after the Chinese character for "Pearl" that can be seen on the train platform.

The name of the station was chosen in reference to the company's founder, Li Xianping, who also had a pearl-shaped tattoo of one on his arm. Li Xianping's son, who founded the Pearl Group, chose the name of the station, which was then used as the initial building code of the station. The name was also changed to the Xi'an Pearl Railway Station when it was built, because the original name had already been taken. The original name is still used today, although it has been renamed because of the railway line that connects the station with Xicheng, which is located to the west of Xi'an.
